Bridget Stutchbury, internationally known ornithologist and author
of "Silence of the Songbirds" will present public programs in
Norwich, Vermont and Concord, New Hampshire this February.
In "Birds of Two Worlds", part of the Birds&Beans Talks series,
Stutchbury will describe the travels and life histories of the
beloved birds that spend summers raising young in the Upper Valley
and migrate extraordinary distances to tropical wintering grounds --
to habitats that are increasingly impacted by unsustainable farming
practices. As part of a regional initiative to inform all who
cherish migratory songbirds, Dr. Stutchbury brings us tales and
images of the marvels and challenges faced by these world travelers,
from a bird's eye view.

The Birds&Beans Talks is a series of lectures aimed at informing and
educating birders and the general public about New England's
migratory birds and the importance of sustainable and
environmentally friendly coffee farming to ensure habitat
preservation. Dr. Stutchbury will present similar talks in
Burlington, Vermont on February 3 and in Monteplier on February 4.
Professor Stutchbury is a Canada Research Chair in Ecology and
Conservation Biology at York University, Toronto. For 25 years she
has followed songbirds to their wintering grounds in Latin America
and back to their North American breeding grounds to understand
their behavior, ecology and conservation. Her acclaimed book
"Silence of the Songbirds" reveals how the world's songbirds are
disappearing, why this predicts widespread environmental problems,
and what we can do to conserve birds and their habitats. Bridget
will be available to autograph copies of her book at the event.
