Hi All,

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, as I haven't had time to
ready the list for weeks, but we us DVDx to extract whatever parts of
vobs and write them as mpeg2 (you can also do AVI, mpeg1.)

DVDx project on sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdx/

It's very handy and much simpler and faster than going through Premiere
and (ugh!) and analog stepstone.
