The iTouch does not have a built-in microphone, so you would need to  
factor in the cost of additional hardware, too.

The iTouch is a great device, so much so that I can see myself lugging  
my laptop around on trips less often, but many of the apps that have  
been created to take advantage of audio input are designed for the  
iPhone because it has that feature built-in.
