Information Technology Services (ITS) at New York University has an  
opening for a Faculty Technology Specialist, in art and art related  
technologies, in the ITS Advanced Media Studio (AMS). The AMS is a  
state-of-the-art facility and arts technology resource for the NYU  
arts and science community, operated by Faculty Technology Services, a  
division of ITS. The AMS provides core services in wide-format museum  
grade printing, drum scanning, laser engraving and cutting, and rapid  
prototyping, and includes a suite of self-service workstations for the  
development of client work.  In addition, the AMS offers faculty  
advisement and training, artist-in-residence sponsorship, research  
support, client workshops, and range of in-house documentation.

Position Responsibilities:
* Help lead the AMS in digital media strategy across University arts  
and science communities.
* Research, propose and implement emerging technologies in the arts  
and sciences.
* Technical administration of hardware and software systems as they  
relate to color management, digital imaging and printmaking, laser  
etching, 3D modeling and printing.
* Management of AMS core services including maintaining and developing  
AMS job workflow database, overseeing quality control, and managing  
service staff.
* Provide guidance and technical support to clients in all aspects of  
AMS hardware and software systems, and core service procedures.
* Consult with University academic departments in the development of  
curriculum incorporating AMS core services and systems.
* Help direct University courses integrating the AMS core services and  
provide support to faculty and students.
* Help manage AMS training workshops, site orientations, and online  
documentation to include the AMS website, wiki and blog.

Qualifications:
* Four year degree in fine arts, interactive technology, computer  
science, or related field, MA/MFA preferred.
* At least four years experience in art and technology field, combined  
art and technology or computer fields, or equivalent combination of  
education and experience.
* Experience with OSX and OSX Server administration and deployment.
* Familiarity with applications related to art and science  
technologies; including Adobe Creative Suite, vector and 2D CAD  
software, color management and profiling software, as well as  
preferred experience with: 3D surface and solid modeling, FileMaker  
development, and RIP software.
