Please note that this is the same position (my current position) that was
advertised last year. As some of you may know, I postponed my retirement by one
year to take the department through an external review and a complete renovation
of its facilities.

Dartmouth College Arts & Humanities Resources Director

Working directly with faculty, staff, and students and reporting to  
the Associate Dean of the Faculty for the Arts & Humanities, the Arts  
& Humanities Resources Director plans the center's operations;  
manages its staff, equipment, and budget; seeks out and implements  
solutions to the curricular and technological needs of Arts &  
Humanities faculty and staff; sets the customer service tone for the  
department; and oversees compliance with copyright laws. Having  
oversight of both the language lab and faculty lab, the director  
keeps up with advances in pedagogy in general and language  
instruction in particular. When appropriate, the director helps to  
find funding resources for, and oversees the development of, software  
and other technology that faculty might use in their teaching and  
scholarship.

Basic requirements include: Advanced degree, or an equivalent  
combination of education and experience. Seven years in technical IT  
support. Five years managing professional staff. Experience in  
teaching a foreign language or ESL in a higher education setting is  
highly desirable. Experience managing a university language lab  
preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  
Demonstrated ability to learn about and share new technology products  
and services. Near native fluency in at least one foreign language.  
In-depth knowledge of teaching practices and requirements, as well as  
of customer service in a technical support environment. Knowledge of  
Macintosh and Windows OS, standard productivity applications,  
networking concepts, hardware and peripherals. Commitment to  
diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
