David,

You may want to talk to our lab people here.  They have deployed labs  
of iMacs that dual-boot between Mac and XP, are refreshed on every  
log out and can receive 'packages' of software on reboot.  The only  
thing we don't yet have is AD, as we are currently authenticating  
against LDAP.  But we are in the process of designing and AD  
implementation.  Let me know if you want me to put you in touch with  
people here.
