We just ordered 5 of these systems.

They arrived in Edmonton in 4 working days and work on any DVD or Video
Tape you can come across.
The trick is the DVD\VCR unit outputs what it it playing (PAL Video it
outputs PAL, NTCS DVD it outputs NTSC..etc) so they include a converter
which monitors the signal it is receiving from the DVD\VCR and converts
that signal to what you need. It's a pretty slick system.

How long will we still be able to buy multi-system VCRs? And from
where? One of our professors wants one. One of the vendors that we
have used, 220-electronics.com, has not answered an email query, and
both their listed toll-free phone numbers report that the numbers are
disconnected. Their web site is still active, but I hesitate to use
them again, if they won't communicate.
World Gift Center <www.world-import.com> still seems to be in business.
I've ordered and received DVD players from them in the last month. The
selection of multi-system VCRs is limited, and all seem to require a
video converter, which they also sell, in order to play PAL on an NTSC
TV. They have a few VCR-DVD player combo units, which also require a
video converter.
For this professor, simpler is better. She needs to view PAL and NTSC
VHS videos and DVDs. SECAM is not needed. A single unit that would
play PAL or NTSC VHS and DVD on an NTSC TV would be optimum. Any advice
on vendors, manufacturers, and models will be welcome.
