Smartboard is ideal for engaging students in learning language via
discussion of art even at elementary language level. For example,
Guernica, the famous Spanish painting, can serve as a first day intro
to definite articles. Students try to find (and circle) "the
woman" "the bull" and different images in this famous painting by
Picasso. The smartboard gives language teachers access to a wealth of
authentic cultural on every topic. The artist website
carmenlomasgarza.com, with many typical everyday scenes is another
example of everyday scenese with much cultural information imbedded in
each. The interactive nature of the smartboard, using art but also
many other sites with great authentic cultural visuals, allows
students to write on the image and is a great teaching aid to promote
comprehension and cultural knowledge at the same time. I have much
information on Spanish sites to use with Smartboard if you're
interested.
