"We are looking into deploying gabcast (www.gabcast.com), a telephone-based
voiceboard system that one of our Spanish language faculty came upon and has
used successfully. She says the students particularly like that they can use
their cellphones rather than a computer with a headset, which means they can
do it anytime, anywhere."

I just joined the listserve and was reading through the June archives when this
message prompted me to respond. I don't know if
this is proper, so please forgive me if I am uncouth. I developed a
telephone-based language tool for students I describe below.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question about experiences with
Gabcast. But I do have a website that uses the
telephone to record and replay audio practice sessions for students (in any
language). It is a user-generated network, so that the
audio files with which students interact are provided by registered members of
the site. All submissions are offered up to the
greater community. I'm not sure if this is something you could use -
