The principal theme of the up-coming UNTELE 2007 conference, 29-31 March
2007:

Cross-cultural communication, global networking and second language
acquisition

The seventh Compiègne conference on the Use of New Technologies in
Foreign Language Teaching has as its main theme:

Does global networking contribute to trans-cultural communication?
Does trans-cultural communication contribute to foreign / second
language acquisition?

Papers reporting on:
1- ICT-based trans-cultural communication,
2- second language acquisition through trans-cultural communication,
are particularly encouraged.

Paper proposals on the other topics related with computer-assisted
language learning, ICT-based teaching, etc. are also encouraged.

A pre conference session has been scheduled on 28 March 2007 for
research students.

Plenary speakers:
Juliana DE NOOY, University of Queensland, Australia,
"Negotiating cultural difference in Internet discussion"

Rachel GIORA, Tel Aviv University, Israel,
"Negation in context: What do you mean when you say 'no'?"

Claire KRAMSCH, Berkeley, USA,
"Symbolic competence, the neglecte dimension of cross-cultural
communication"

Deadline for submissions: 22 NOvember 2006.
