Subject: RE: #8364.1 (!) Multistandard DVD/VCR

We always have had good luck with the Samsung 5000s, although some have not. (We've had even better luck with our Panasonic AG-W1. We have been using it once or twice a week for 16 years now. Unfortunately, the AG-W1 was discontinued years ago.)
Anyway, our supplier tells us that the Samsung has been discontinued, and they can't find any multi-standard VCRs with internal converter units that they would put their company's reputation behind, so they only now make PAL/SECAM players with external converters available. I trust their judgment on this.
Our supplier is International Video (http://220-electronics.com). I recommend them without hesitation and wholeheartedly. We have bought about 100 zone-free DVD players and a number of multi-standard VCRs from them over the years, and we have always been pleased with their selection, prices and customer service.
