Starting salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience. This is a 9 or 10.5 month contract. There is normally no personal contact with applicants unless they are selected for an interview.
    
Cy-Fair College is the fifth college in the North Harris Montgomery Community College District and joins North Harris, Kingwood, Tomball and Montgomery Colleges in serving northern suburban Houston, Texas. As a comprehensive community college for the 21st century, Cy-Fair College provides a dynamic environment for life-long learning and provides a full range of offerings including university transfer courses such as Humanities, Sciences, Fine and Performance Arts as well as degrees, certificates and workforce development in high demand career areas. -Teach freshman and sophomore Spanish courses 
-Commitment to teaching a diverse community college student body 
-Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods 
-Develop curriculum 
-Teach courses at a variety of times, locations and modes (online) in response to institutional needs 
-Develop and use a syllabus for each course within college and departmental guidelines 
-Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials 
-Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives, and inform them in a timely manner of their progress 
-Provide timely, quality access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods 
-Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner 
-Assist with departmental strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives 
-Participate in district/college/departmental professional development activities 
-Serve on college and district committees as required 
-Work collaboratively with other faculty and staff on schedule development, marketing events, faculty recruitment, hiring, classroom observation, student recruitment and retention efforts, budget development and special events 
-Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
    
-Master's degree in Spanish or a Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish 
-Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills 
-Demonstrated ability to engage students in learning using varied methods, tools, and technologies. 
-Willingness to develop and teach internet courses and immersion courses and/ or programs 
-Familiarity with computer applications/software as aids to learning 
-Ability to develop curriculum for diverse offerings and study-abroad programs 
-Demonstrated ability and commitment to work collaboratively 
-Demonstrated commitment to multi-cultural and multi-generational diversity 
-Distance education certification or a commitment to obtain certification through NHMCCD (or equivalent) within 12 months of employment    

Preferred Qualifications/Education  
-Prior successful community college or higher education teaching experience
