Italian. Beginning July 1, 2007, Adjunct Instructor (with M.A.) or
Adjunct Assistant Professor (with Ph.D.) to teach and coordinate
Italian Language courses.  The Adjunct track has a prestigious
tradition at Wesleyan, running parallel to the tenure track,
typically on four-year renewable contracts, with faculty moving in
the course of their careers from assistant to associate to full and
enjoying many benefits, in addition to opportunities for promotion,
sabbaticals, and funding for pedagogical renewal and research.  For
this position, in which the successful candidate will be part of an
extraordinary team committed to providing the best possible
instruction to highly talented undergraduates, we are particularly
interested in individuals with training in second-language
acquisition.  Requirements include: native/near-native fluency in
Italian, substantial language-teaching experience and demonstrated
commitment to language pedagogy, as well as expertise and strong
interest in the use of multimedia in language teaching. Teaching
load: 5 courses/yr.

For full consideration, send three letters of recommendation,
curriculum vitae, full dossier, and teaching portfolio, including
short statement of teaching philosophy (1 page maximum) and copies of
student evaluations of teaching and courses as well as statistical
summaries (if available), with self-addressed stamped postcard, by
