Dear colleagues,

Attached below is an invitation to a Web event Duke is hosting this
Thursday about the ongoing Duke Digital Initiative. Our language programs
and departments have been some the most active participants in this
program, so I thought this might be of interest to some of you.

Best,

Duke University invites you to participate in a live webcast Thursday,
July 27 to discuss results from an evaluation of the expanded 2005-2006
version of the Duke Digital Initiative (DDI).
The DDI is a groundbreaking multi-year program of experimentation,
development, and implementation of new and emerging technologies which has
grown from an iPod-only focus in 2004 to present-day incorporation of
tablet PCs and handheld computers, collaborative learning tools,
podcasting, and digital recording and distribution of classroom lectures.
The July 27 webcast $E2Ai scheduled from 2-3 p.m. Eastern Time $E2Ai will
provide
updates on the explosive growth in the use of these technologies at Duke,
and a live Q&A session will feature panelists answering viewer emails
about digital technology. You can submit your questions in advance or
during the event via [log in to unmask]
A link to the webcast will be available on July 27 via www.duke.edu/ddi.
Video interviews with faculty participating in DDI programs and a copy of
the DDI evaluation are available on the DDI website prior to the webcast,
and a copy of the event will be archived for future reference.
