Greetings Everyone,

NERALLT's fall meeting, "Virtually Anything: New Modes of Communication,"
will be held at Harvard University on October 26 and 27, 2006.

We've sent out an initial call for presentations to everyone within
NERALLT,
and thought we'd expand the invitation to everyone at IALLT the opportunity

to share the work they've been doing within this area, and to give a heads
up as well, to those who may be interested in attending.

This meeting will examine the generational shift occurring in young people,
"digital natives," regarding their use of communication
and collaboration technologies. How will their social and learning styles
shape instructional language technology and pedagogy for the next
generation of students?

We will also examine how language technologists can be more effective in
using existing technologies to communicate and collaborate with each other,
with faculty, and various constituencies in our institutions.

If all this isn't exciting enough, if your proposal is accepted, you'd be
among the few who could honestly start off a sentence with "In my
presentation at Harvard..."

Our web form is available 24 hours a day, but The deadline for proposals
is September 15, and with classes starting soon, that is just around the
corner. So what are you waiting for?

Thanks! and I hope you all are having a great summer.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Bennett,
NERALLT Fall Conference Chair

The Fall Program Committee: Chair, Jeremy Bennett; Host, Thom Hammond; and
committee members Cindy Bravo; Bruce O'Leary; Marisa Castagno; and Emily
Wentworth.
