Hi Sharon,

We've been having a very similar problem on a quad-core G5 for months
without being able to find any real solution. Prior to 10.4.7, I found a
trick to keep the problem at bay for a time: close Audacity, open
GarageBand, play a few notes on the keyboard, close GarageBand, and
reopen Audacity. Since upgrading to 10.4.7, however, that doesn't work
for me. (I suspect it's a problem with the way Audacity interfaces with
the CoreAudio drivers OS X uses.) Anyhoo, it's worth a shot.

I hope your summer is going well!
Erin

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not. -Yogi

Hello,

Yes, we had problems adding Audacity to a PC image. We found that we just
couldn't put it on the image. We assigned student interns to install it on
individual machines after ghosting.

We have had the same problem, and after both online research and
speaking to our Apple rep we have yet to find a solution. My best
hope is that the makers of Audacity will release an intel-based
version soon. I know that the demand is there, so hopefully somebody
with the requisite skills will step up to the plate. I wish I had
better news, and if anybody does, please share it with us!!
