Barbara,
I wish I could tell you more, but we have not yet updated to Blackboard
7.x, Like you, I am eager to hear the news about 7.X

I do know that in version 6.x, the one we are using now, that even the
simple accent marks necessary for Spanish, French, German, etc. were not
working properly until updates occurred. That was foreboding, so I, like
you, hope that more robust considerations for foreign languages have
been made to 7.x.

I am not aware of any down sides in terms of having it hosted remotely.
An Italian instructor was thrilled to learn that he could use Blackboard
without a hitch in Rome this summer for a class he is teaching there.
Students logged in just as they would log in here in Chicago, and it all
went smoothly, including use of the Wimba Voice Tools, which required an
add-on license that we purchased along with the BB license.

Please, everybody, feel free to tell us the good, the bad and the
ugly!
