Director of Academic Technology Services   

Amherst College invites applications for the position of Director of 
Academic Technology Services. This position supports the educational and 

research mission of Amherst College by providing leadership and vision to
 
faculty, students, and staff across campus. The position will oversee the
 
Information Technology Department's newly restructured Academic Technol
ogy 
Services division, which consists of Classroom and Lab Technology Support
, 
Academic Software and Media Support, and Teaching and Research Innovation
.

The successful candidate will develop and manage staff, budgets, and 
resources for classroom technology, faculty and student support, and 
development of custom applications and computational environments. He/She
 
should range between professional expertise and the fluency of an advance
d 
user across a spectrum of technologies, including: LAMP web environments,
 
server clusters, Internet 2/IPv6 development, GIS, digital video and 
animation, computer games, and the design of real and virtual instruction
al 
spaces which utilize new technologies to facilitate teaching and learning
. 
Candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferr
ed; 
and must have a record of receiving grants for education and/or research 

technology projects. He/She should have experience managing many projects
 
simultaneously as well as supervising a diverse staff.

We seek a Director who will be a dynamic leader able to guide the College
 
in the successful integration of new technologies with learning and 
research. He/She will demonstrate a leadership style that is collaborativ
e, 
supportive, and inspires creativity, learning, as well as the highest 
quality work.
