hello all - quick de-lurk here to point out that any dv camera will take 
in a signal from a dvd player (rca to in) and playit through the firewire 
connection (dv-out)...think of it as a sony DVMC-DA2 with a lens :) ...i 
also prefer having the sony box wired in, but in a pinch, or lack of 
budget, hooking up the dv cam works like a charm :)
