Greetings:

The spring semester is winding to an end, and Erin and I are ready to
start broadcasting again.

Language Lab Unleashed! will be webcast live starting at 9:30 p.m. EST.
participants can call in via Skype or via phone. A synchronous
text-based chatspace will be running during the webcast should listeners
wish to participate via text and not audio. The chat and the webcast
will be archived and posted to the site after the show. For more details
on how to chime in please go to:
http://www.languagelabunleashed.com/?page_id=19

*May 11:* A conversation with Jan Marston, Clayton Mitchell and their
colleague at the University of Texas-Arlington, Pete Smith, about the
Drake University Language Acquisition Program (DULAP) . Drake was in the
news in 2001 <http://chronicle.com/weekly/v47/i26/26a01401.htm> when
their administration chose to close down their Modern Languages
Department. The languages are still taught at Drake, but in a new way.
Please join us for a conversation on what happened at Drake, why it
happened as it did, and where they are going now.

*May 18:* "Why should I care about K-12?" Join us for a conversation
about how or why K-12 institutions and higher ed can/can't/should/won't
work together to promote language learning in the US. Participants will
include Frank Kruger-Robbins of Pinecrest Preparatory School, Inc (who
also serves as IALLT's K-12 Coordinator), Joseph Kautz, Academic
Technology Specialist at Stanford University's Digital Language Lab, and
others. Please join us!

For a look at what we have planned for June, please visit our website at
http://www.languagelabunleashed.com

Have an idea for a show? Heard or heard about a wonderful presentation
at an IALLT regional group meeting and would like to hear more? Want to
talk about something related to our profession? We want to hear from
you! Please email us at [log in to unmask]

Happy end of the semester to all!

Barbara
