Job Description and Announcement

Full-time Director of Language Learning Center with the rank of 
Lecturer with expertise in the use of technology in foreign language 
instruction and in modern foreign language pedagogy sought to 1) plan 
and oversee transition to the digital delivery of foreign language 
multimedia materials and design new applications for the use of 
technology in foreign language education; 2) direct and manage 
currently existing analog Language Learning Center and help plan for 
the future use of this facility; 3) assist foreign language faculty 
in the adaptation of technology to proficiency/ competency approaches 
for foreign language instruction and develop templates to provide 
faculty with the ability to use the technology more rapidly; 4) 
maintain and expand departmental web page.   The successful candidate 
will teach two courses each semester in his/her language of 
expertise. Appointment renewable annually. Salary competitive for a 
10.5 month appointment.   Position begins August 1, 2006. This 
position does not lead to tenure and is renewable annually.

The ideal finalist fulfills the following requirements:  1)  M.A. 
degree with a focus on the use of technology in foreign language 
instruction or in foreign language pedagogy with substantial work in 
the other area or demonstrated evidence of equivalent training 
including an M.A. degree in a language of specialization; 2) 
successful experience teaching a language taught in the department to 
American undergraduates (French, Italian, or 
Spanish);   3)  experience in designing and implementing innovative 
delivery of multimedia materials; 4) experience in maintaining an 
analog lab and in overseeing a modest budget and managing student 
workers;  5) minimal ACTFL Advanced High proficiency in all skills in 
English and the foreign language of expertise.
