Several of us use it here... some for daily use, most for specialized
uses (such as publishing to PDF!)  My take is it's a full-featured and
very capable MSOffice-like suite.  So if you have to use the MS
compatible approach, it's a great choice.  I still prefer the
WordPerfect approach to word processing, so I haven't jumped in yet with
both feet.  But I do use it occasionally and it works very well.

PS Our campus has offered as a supported standard Star Office, which is
Sun's branded version of Open Office.  I actually like the latter
better.
