I've used the OpenOffice word processing component, though only on my own 
time. The GUI is a noticeably different feel from MS Office, but that could 
be due to inherent OS GUI differences (I have only used it on Linux). 
Beyond that, it worked like one would hope, including opening and using MS 
Word dox with no problem. What about the converse, though? Can OO's native 
format be read by MS Office?

We don't use it here, in part because Yale buys bulk licensing from 
Microsoft, so I can't comment on the multilingual capabilities.
