It's a variant of CRS, Course Response System, a software/hardware
(transponder/receiver) interactive system that seems to be growing more
popular. There was an excellent presentation of its use in a Spanish
class last year at Digital Stream, but I've forgotten the presenter.
WE are doing a pilot project this year in three classes, one of which is
a language class.

I hate to ask a silly question, but what is CPS?

Purdue Cal is using CPS in introductory French classes, and the students
(and faculty) really like it! I know it has caught the attention of at
least McGraw-Hill, who is seriously considering producing content for
some French titles now that they realize that Language teachers actually
have an interest in CPS.

I think it will gain wider acceptance now that it integrates seamlessly
with WebCT/Blackboard, and hopefully soon, with products like Quia and
Respondus...
