Hi,
I recommend Soundflower by Cycling 74, a helper app that runs in the
background and passes audio from one application to another. Very
spiffy, and free.
http://www.cycling74.com/products/download.html
Once installed, Soundflower buries itself in your System Preferences as
a potential input/output setting. Set your system audio _output_ to
Soundflower. Set the audio _input_ setting for your recording app to
Soundflower. That's pretty much it.
I should mention that I have tested this using Sound Studio
(http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/soundstudio.html) as the
recording app. It has a nice feature, software playthrough, which
allows you to hear what's happening on Skype (or iChat, or whatever)
despite having output diverted from Built-in Audio. Audacity didn't work
immediately so I ditched that path, though I suspect one could figure it
out. I bet QT7 pro would work fine, which I can test easily enough for
y'all if you like.
best,
Zach Chandler
