The College of Arts and Letters invites applicants for a full-time faculty
position as director of the Language Resource Center to begin in July 2006;
rank is open and will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate.
Responsibilities include: collaborate with faculty in applying technology to
foreign language instruction (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek and Latin,
Irish, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Quechua, Russian, Spanish); administer
the daily operations, budget, staff, and multiple functions of the LRC; serve
as a resource person for faculty teaching language and literature; offer and/or
organize workshops in foreign language pedagogy and assessment of proficiency.
The successful candidate will have a M.A. or Ph.D degree with an emphasis on
pedagogy and the use of technology in foreign language education, fluency in
one or more of the languages listed above, experience in administration, and
demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching.  Salary is competitive with
national standards for appointments in multiple competencies and technology and
