>Subject: MPEG-4 conversion in iMovie (was MPG-1 conversion)

Hi all,

As a tangent to the mpg-1 conversion thread from Jorg and Otmar, we've
also recently started experiencing export/conversion weirdness in iMovie
for hinted MPEG-4 exports, which is what we use on our streaming server.
The QT/movie to MPEG-4 export hangs consistently now - we never get past
the step where the application estimates how much time it will take to
process the file. This is new after upgrading to the most recent version
of OS X, iMovie, etc. We've got a bug report into Apple and are getting
assistance from some Quicktime engineers, so I hope to have a solution
soon. We (either me or Laura Atkinson, our technical coordinator) can post
info to the list, if people want, or I can keep track of who might want an
off-line message with details once we have them.

Samantha
