Hello to all,
I am upgrading all the Macintosh computers from 10.2 to 10.4.2
(Tiger) and I am having a problem with burning CDs.

I created two accounts - one for Administrator and one for Students.
The Student account cannot administer the computer, but it has the
burning CDs and DVDs privilege in the system preferences.

I took away the "write" privilege from user/students/Desktop so that
when students log in as Students, they cannot save files on the
Desktop. I created a Document folder alias on the Desktop so that
they could save files there if they want to.

However, this change prevented students from burning CDs. When I
insert a blank CD into a computer, it asks you for an action. When
you choose "Open Finder," you get an error message that "You do not
have enough privilege for some of the items" and the CD comes out.

I do not have any problem burning CDs with the admin account. I
tested with a student account with the "write" privilege to Desktop
and I was able to burn a CD.

With Jaguar, I did not have any problem with burning CDs with locked
Desktop - no "write" privilege to Desktop.

I am wondering if there is anybody who had the same problem and came
up with a solution.
Thank you.
Hiroyo
