Hi all,

We have an open position in the Educational Technology Consulting 
group at MIT. I have included the description below plus a link for 
those interested in applying. Please feel free to forward this to any 
math/engineering software specialists you may know. I can answer 
questions about the position, but all applications should go through

EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY CONSULTANT, Information Services and Technology, 
to act as an educational technology consultant/science and 
engineering software specialist to help MIT faculty and instructional 
staff integrate IT technology in their curricula with a particular 
focus on enhancing math, science, and engineering education. Will 
consult with faculty on technology applications for integration in 
the curriculum; research and evaluate new educational technology 
products, services, and software; work with technical development 
staff to implement complete teaching solutions, e.g., oversee pilot 
tests, evaluate effectiveness, and provide ongoing faculty support; 
advise science and engineering faculty on incorporating specific 
technologies into their curriculum; participate in design and 
development of web and multimedia instructional materials; provide 
support for MIT course management; and promote educational technology 
services and tools through presentations, training sessions, and 
newsletter articles.

REQUIREMENTS: a graduate degree in a scientific or engineering 
discipline (Ph.D. a plus); programming experience in C, C++, C#, 
Fortran, and Java; in-depth knowledge of scientific computing and 
typesetting applications, e.g., MATLAB, Mathematica, and LaTeX; and 
experience with web technologies, e.g., HTML, Dreamweaver, MathML, 
etc. Experience using high performance computing clusters helpful, 
e.g., Rocks distribution, and Ganglia monitoring tool. Strong 
interest in the use of technology for enhancing math and science 
education at the university level expected. Proficiency in 
UNIX/Linux, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems required. 
Excellent communication and presentation skills needed for 
interaction with and outreach to the academic community. Must be able 
to work independently and engage faculty on the use of technology in 
education. Good project management skills and ability to work in and 
lead teams from project start to completion necessary. MIT-00002039-P
