A sidebar about file size and the .WAV audio file format. While it is
understood that the reference (of .WAV files taking up a lot of space) is
due to the .WAV format being commonly implemented (or defaults set to) 44.1
kHz., 16 bit, uncompressed PCM, which results in *much* larger files than,
say using .mp3 compression -- .WAV files *can* be implemented at lower
sampling rates and bit depths (resolution), e.g., 11.025kHz., 8 bit; and
.WAV files can also be compressed using ADPCM, where the file size reduction
is 4:1. Of course these methods don't yield nearly the file size reduction
as .mp3 encoding (and sound quality is yet another topic).
