Stephanie,
About the Portuguese language program, check Beginning Brazilian
Portuguese, from the University of Arizona's Critical Languages Series
(at http://clp.arizona.edu/cls/por/
It is designed for both self-instruction and classroom use.
I just saw a review about it at Amazon.com at:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1929986009/qid=1099860231/
sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-4919947-6175111?v=glance&s=books
Hope that helps.

Dear all!
I am looking for the best Portuguese language program around for our
Bard students who want to learn Portuguese - but would have to do so by
themselves. Any
self-instructional audio/video/ and/or computer program you can
recommend
would be
great and any kind of report on experiences with it would be very much
appreciated.
