>Subject: Capturing students' oral performance on video
>Date: Wed, 27 Oct 2004 07:31:20 -0400

In response to the request for a solution to capture students' oral
performance on video, I can point you to a solution that we developed
in-house.

The Language Learning Center at Michigan State University has a program
called Audio Portfolios. The program allows students to log in, record
themselves (audio and video), and make their clips available to their
instructors. The program streams recordings up to the server in real
time. It's cross-platform, web-based, and quite easy to use. The price
is right, too! :-)

We've been using the program for many of our ESL classes to great
success. Students like to see themselves on video, and instructors are
very pleased with the quality of student performance.

You can see the program here:
http://distancelearning.llc.msu.edu/audioportfolio. If you want to try
it, you can log in with username guest, password guest, and choose the
teacher name "Demo Teacher"

You can also log in as an instructor. Click the "Instructors log in
here" link and log in with username teacher, password teacher.

Please try the program, and let me know if you have any questions or
need more information.
