Two suggestions:

To "clone" one OS X Mac to another:

Carbon Copy Cloner

To rebuild a lab:

Radmind (requires some comfort with the Unix terminal)

Note that Apple Software Restore can also be run as a command line
tool in Panther (OS 10.3.). I think I read this at either Mike
Bombich's Carbon Copy Cloner site or at the Radmind site.
