We use a free software called Carbon Copy Cloner.  It allows us to  make a
"snapshot" of the drive and then CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) will make a
single file for us to use on an identical computer.  If we want to do it
over a network, we can do that with the combination of CCC and NetRestore
which is also on the CCC site.  Here is the link to it:

Our Mac support company here in St Louis uses this as well.  It is really
great software.
