I forwarded this to the gentleman who coordinates technical support for our
Business labs, since I know that they use NetOp.

Susie,

I notice that the request came from a listserve, and I know that sometimes I
can't post to a listserve without being subscribed to the listserve.

So I'll write my comments and give you permission to forward it to the listserv.

We are using NetOp School for Windows ver. 2.51 in an accounting computer lab.
The NetOp functions MOST used by the instructors are:

"Attention" - a logo displayed on every student computer monitor so they can't
use the computer while the instructor is talking.
"Give Demo" - The instructor displays a selected computer screen (either the
instructors or one of the student's) on every (or selected) student computer
monitors. This is also useful for some low-vision students that cannot see the
instructors display projected through a ceiling mounted projector.
"Monitor Students" - displays selected student computer screens every few
seconds, then displays the next.

Other features used by our accounting instructors:

Classroom View - arrange the icons for student computers the same as the
classroom is actually arranged.
Mosaic - displays the computer screen for every student computer. Used to
monitor WHAT the students are actually doing on their computers.

There doesn't seem to be a performance hit on the computers when using NetOp,
however, I don't know how the computers are used in a language lab.

Dave,
Thought you might be able to give them some pointers.

Hi Jeff, or anybody re. above subject :-)

With regard to your posting below, I would really appreciate getting some
comments about NetOp if you have worked with it. We have 5 licences for
trial and are contemplating setting up our lab classroom management with
it..

I was also wondering whether anyone had any experience with "Virtual
language Lab" by Keylinks Computers, UK?
That would be most useful.

Thank you for your help !

Can anyone provide feedback on the use of NetOp software in a computerized
language lab setting? My university bought it for other labs and has
offered it to us for language use.

 Thanks in advance,
