Brown University seeks candidates for the
position of Instructor of English as a Second
Language.  The successful applicant will teach
two university-level ESL classes during each
academic semester to prospective international
teaching assistants.  This person will also be
responsible for directing and teaching a
three-week English language and acculturation
seminar for in-coming international graduate
students each August. This individual will serve
on evaluation panels before and after each
semester to determine students' placement in ITA
classes and / or certification for teaching
undergraduates.

This is an 80% time position.  Qualifications include:

$B7 Minimum of B.A. (M.A. preferred) in ESL or related field
$B7 A minimum of two years teaching experience in
ESL at the post-secondary level, preferably with
graduate students, and with demonstrated teaching
excellence
$B7 Administrative experience a plus
$B7 Native-speaker equivalent command of North American English
$B7 Excellent written and spoken communication skills
$B7 Ability to work with students from diverse
backgrounds, tact and sensitivity to
multicultural issues
