There are two processes involved:

1) You need to decide whether to provide a CD image (e.g., .iso files) or
other file format such as .mp3, etc.

2) To password-protect those files, you can use the built-in user
authentication mechanism on Windows2003:

a) Create a user account on the Windows2003 server;
b) Change the permissions on the folder (that contain those files) so that
only authenticated users can view and download;
c) Modify the web server permssion related to that particular folder (if
you are using FrontPage server extensions, that'll be a few clicks).
d) Give students the username and account.
