Ann,

I am using "Entre Amis" published by Houghton Mifflin.

A feature I like very much is the generous treatment of French gestures. There
are at least two per chapter. Each is pictured and explained.

It has the largest amount of audio (lab program and textbook CDs) of any of the
textbooks I considered.

The "Pas de Probleme" accompanying video is decent. The web page has some
grammar and vocabulary exercises.

The test bank is very disappointing.

On the whole the book has been effective for me and is certainly better (except
for the test bank) than what I was using previously.

Hello, colleagues,

I'd be very interested in knowing what first-year college-level French texts you
are using, and how you (and the students) like them. I'm looking for something
that has a good core text supported by materials that can be used effectively in
a language lab setting or on students' home computers.

Thank you,

Ann Therkelsen
