Marty,

Our language center subscribes to several foreign language magazines. We try to
find publications that strike a balance between being authentic on the one hand,
but also being relatively accessible to undergraduate students on the other.
This is sometimes virtually impossible. However, even beginning and intermediate
students can glean a lot of material from headlines, pictures and advertising.
One word of caution--European magazines, in particular, can sport pretty racy
covers--on occasion enough to cause not only our Jesuit instructors to pause,
but everybody else, too. These subscriptions can be expensive, but are usually
cheapest if you deal directly with the publisher.
A list of our subscriptions can be found at

We are interested in subscribing to some magazines to have on hand in our
Language Center. While teachers may use them academically, we are also want
publications of interest to our students for casual reading. We prefer not
to have magazines that are just translations of US publications, but those
that present a different view point.

What suggestions do you all have?

Marty
