Subject: Ursula Williams

It is my very sad duty to report that Ursula Williams, our dear
colleague and President Elect of IALLT, died this morning, after a
long struggle with cancer.
Her daughter Lara reported that she died peacefully at home. There is
to be a memorial service at Notre Dame University at a later date, to
be arranged.

As someone said, it is ironic, but maybe typical of Ursula's spirit,
that as a member of the "Fightin' Irish" of Notre Dame University,
she should hold on until March 17th. She would have appreciated the
irony. Ursula was truly a 'presence', uniquely gifted to bring great
energy and humor to her very committed and widely esteemed
professional activities. She will be well-remembered and sadly missed
by all of us who met and worked with her.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
Peter Liddell
President, IALLT
