Before you jump in and start installing the proofing tools you should be 
aware of Microsoft's new license agreement.  The proofing tools license 
does not come with the volume licensing agreement.  Microsoft may include 
the CDs with the tools but you have to pay an additional fee (as much as 
$20 per computer) to use the other dictionaries.

We just discovered this ourselves and are trying to decide where to go with 
it.  One person suggested the radical move to Open Office.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you might (or maybe not <grin>) 
check with your computing people to check your campus agreement.
