Dear Georgia,

What we have done in our Lab is digitize all the audio and video
material that came with the textbooks and students can now access the
material remotely. This has alleviated the traffic in the Lab and
students are very happy with it.

You can check our website and if there is any textbook material that you
need, we can share it so all you would need to do is get permission from
the Publishers. In fact, some of them have decided to catch up and have
their audio and video material on the web.(Dos Mundos and Conexiones for
example).

Best,

Rachida

The experience of learning technology practitioners has been rather like
climbing a mountain. A peak appears in sight but when it is reached it
turns out to have been just a foothill and a higher peak becomes
visible. When this is reached however the new vistas reveals a further
higher peak... (Darby 2002-2)

Now that many publishers are producing audio CDs instead of cassettes
for their textbooks, are Language Resource Centers duplicating the CDs
for students to check out? All of a sudden we seem to be behind the
times and our high speed cassette tape duplicators and cassette playing
language lab are becoming obsolete.

Any information about this turn in events will be greatly appreciated.
