The Arts Resource Centre at the University of Alberta in Canada is
looking for an instructional designer to start in mid to late August,
2003. The following is the job posting:

Instructional Technology Specialist

Arts Resource Centre, Faculty of Arts

Competition Deadline: July 18, 2003

The Arts Resource Centre invites applications for an Instructional
Technology (IT) Specialist. The IT Specialist is accountable to the
Director of the Arts Resource Centre and is responsible for promoting
and implementing initiatives to integrate instructional technology into
teaching practice, and for the pedagogical application of technology at
the course and program level, by providing consultation and project
development services to teaching staff and departments in the Faculty of
Arts. The main duties are project management, needs assessment,
instructional design, supervision of Arts IT student mentors and, in
collaboration with other agencies, user training. There is also
significant collaboration with instructional technology and education
professionals on campus and beyond.

Qualifications include a post-graduate degree in instructional
technology or related field and some experience with designing but not
necessarily building Web sites, digital graphics, and multimedia
materials for instructional use. Excellent communication, organization,
problem-solving, time-management, and interpersonal leadership skills
are essential. Previous experience in developing, teaching, and
coordinating professional development workshops and seminars to
disseminate advancements in the fields of information technology would
be an asset. Take note of the fact that people with experience in
instructional design are preferred over those with purely technical
skills.

The Instructional Technology Specialist is a part-time academic
appointment (0.5 FTE - 20 hrs/wk) with the Arts Resource Centre. The
initial appointment is for one year with possibility of renewal. The
salary range for this position is CDN$20,750 to CDN$29,450.

Interested applicants are requested to submit an application letter,
current curriculum vitae and the names of three references no later than
July 18, 2003 to:
