Betty, I may have a solution for you but I still have to test it. I will
set up a digital language lab similar to yours using NetOp School
software this summer, hopefully to be up and running before Fall
semester starts.
I will post about this make-yourself approach to a Digital Language Lab
as soon as I am through it.

We want a 25-seat lab. We would use the academic server for the
recorded audio exercises, webpages, and links. In the lab, we want to
have 25 computer stations with web access, alternate
keyboard sets, dictionaries, spell-checkers, etc. online. For class
functions, all we really need to be able to do is bring in a class &
have
them listen and respond to the oral exercises while the faculty member
listens in on them. The rest of the typical lab function, ie
distributing
a lesson to the class, making small groups, etc., is not something we
would use. Because of this, we are not thrilled to pay megabucks for
the
typical language lab company like Sony, Tandberg, etc. Ideally, I would
like to hold the software cost to $5,000 or under.
