>Subject: Printing Chinese in OS X - Update

------------------

Some of you may remember my problems trying to print Chinese AppleWorks
documents to a network printer. I haven't worked on this problem in a
couple of weeks, and today when I came back to it, I found this on the
Apple Knowledge Base (I swear that despite the dates on this article, it
was not there a few weeks ago):

TITLE

AppleWorks 6, Mac OS X: Non-Roman Characters Print in Courier
Article ID:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOPIC

Chinese or Japanese text may not print correctly from AppleWorks 6 when
used with Mac OS X and a PostScript printer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
DISCUSSION

Symptom

Printing a document which includes Chinese or Japanese text results in
Courier font instead of the designated Asian-language font.

Products affected

*       AppleWorks 6
*       Mac OS X
Solution

Use the Print Preview option to print the document from the Preview
application. You may follow these steps:

1. Choose Print from the File menu in AppleWorks 6.
2. Click Preview.
3. Wait for the preview to open in the Preview application.
4. Choose Print from the File menu of the Preview application.
Apple is currently investigating this issue. Check this technical document
for updates.

Hope this might be helpful to someone else. It works on this machine, and
is only marginally inconvenient. Hopefully they'll release an update that
will fix the problem entirely.
