The Sampo DVE 612 does indeed play DVD-R disks. My original information about this player was based on the manual which is a little unclear about the various types of DVDs. I must admit that I am still struggling with distinguishing between DVD, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, and DVD+R and whatever other formats there are and how I can or cannot copy one to the other.....

An additional information regarding these formats LLTI subscribers can share would be very much appreciated here.
