I don't know about upgrading a system to OSX, but contrary to what Otmar has
observed, I haven't had any trouble with AppleWorks and Chinese on our new
iMac running OSX.  As far as opening old Chinese files in AppleWorks, we
unfortunately used Xiali Baren for Chinese word processing...Those files are
obsolete under any system!  Good Luck!
