I think the cheapest DVD player is the DAEWOO DVD-4000S from Target for
$79.99.
Go to
http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/Daewoo_DVG4000S/DVG-4000S.htm
and check out the three ways to change the region with the remote
control. I was able to change the region to bypass on my DVD-4000S with
the first option. I've played Japanese (region 2) DVDs and a French PAL
(region 2?) DVD on it with no problems. My TV is a standard NTSC.
I use this machine at home.
Other options are from
http://www.world-import.com/dvd.htm
or
http://www.220-electronics.com/
but these will be some what more money.
