FYI:

CWRU Hosts National Conference on Wireless

Technology and PDA's in Higher Education

Featured speakers include the President of Drexel University, Director of
The Campus Computing Project, and senior execs from Microsoft and Palm. -
April 9-11, 2003.

Drexel University president Constantine Papadakis, Campus Computing Project
founder Kenneth C. Green, Palms Vice President for Education Mike Lorion,
and Microsoft Higher Education Evangelist John Dubois are among more than
two dozen speakers are coming to Cleveland and Case Western Reserve
University for the 2nd annual, No Strings Attached Conference (NSA),
convened by CWRU on April 9-11, 2003.

Over 300 conference participants college faculty and campus IT personnel,
along with technology industry executives and entrepreneurs will meet at
CWRU for three days of plenary presentations, conference sessions, and
hallway conversations focused on

ubiquitous computing in higher education. The conference schedule includes
sessions on the impact of wireless technology, personal digital assistants
(PDAs), handheld computers, and tablet PCs on teaching, learning, research,
faculty activities, and student life.

The No Strings Attached conference reflects our commitment to ubiquitous
computing, say Lev Gonick, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at
Case-Western Reserve University. It provides a unique forum for individuals
and institutions engaged in innovative classroom and campus projects. Were
delighted that Drexel president Constantine Papadakis will be the keynote
speaker on Wednesday afternoon April 9th, as Drexel, like Case-Western, is
an acknowledged leader in the campus movement to wireless and ubiquitous
computing.

Kenneth Green, director of The Campus Computing Project notes that "our
national survey data show dramatic growth the proportion of campuses moving
towards wireless computing. Green's plenary session on Friday morning,
April 11th, will draw on data from The Campus Computing Project to outline
the IT challenges that campuses confront as they move towards ubiquitous
computing.

Returning for the 2003 NSA conference is Mike Lorion, Vice President for
Education at Palm Computing. A featured speaker at the 2002 NSA
conference, Lorion comments that last year's event was a very important
meeting that reflected the campus enthusiasm for ubiquitous computing.
College students and faculty are innovative users these technologies.

Microsoft higher education evangelist John Dubois will be the featured
speaker at the Thursday evening conference function scheduled for Great
Lakes Sciences Center. DuBois views the strong interest campus interest in
wireless technologies, PDAs/pocket PCs, and tablet PCs, as evidence that
college students and faculty are very interested and increasingly expect
untethered tools that foster access to information and collaboration.
