The brand new Target store in my town was out of stock of the Daewoo unit, so I got the Sampo DVE612(N) for even less -- $69.99 with free shipping -- from buy.com. It will play PAL and NTSC DVDs on an NTSC TV, as well as CDs with MP3s, JPEGs, etc. See:

With an easy remote-control tweak, you can set it to access any region code, or skip region codes altogether, with these directions from
http://www.area450.com/hacks/regionhack.htm#Sampo%20DVE612
1. Power up your player
2. Press OPEN/CLOSE
3. Key in 3, 3, 0, 8, 8, 0
4. Press OPEN/CLOSE
5. Power down your player
"R0" will appear on the screen in the bottom left hand corner on the DVE612. The DVE612(N) is slightly more informative, advising you that "REGION NO : 0".
The player is now hacked for all-region playback. RCE discs appear to playback without any problem.
Cheers,
Margo
